Title: Unusual options
Post by: skylark68 on May 14, 2012, 04:37:37 pm
What are some of the more unusual options on the '73 to '87 trucks? I have a few of the old brochures from several years and I would imagine that a tach is fairly unusual for the '81 and up trucks. I think I remember seeing some type of slide out spare tire assembly as an option as well in one of the brochures (never on an actual truck). Any other unusual factory options that you guys have seen on these trucks?

Carpet Delete on a Sliverado package comes to mind for a RPO

Prior to 1988 you could pretty much design your own truck before
the ' Package ' craze started  :( Fleet orders had neat stuff like PTO's
and such for specific applications  8)

I wouldn't call those unusual as much as not as common. Unusual are typically the dealer sold options like, different wheels, paint schemes, pin stripings, high trim options and seats, convertibles, conversions, extra cab, sunroof, door speakers, 8 tracks, cb radio's, overdrive units, fender skirts, step bars, tow hitches, I'm sure there's more others can think of.

Are you looking for unusual or rare.
82-up tachs are rare in 1/2 tons, from what I have found they don't exist.
