what kind of "headache" am i going to have to go from a TH400 to a 700R4, on my suburban. as well as i got a 700R4, an i was told it was an 85, but lookin at the numbers stamped on it, i think its newer than an 85. here's the numbers off of it "9TXM235N" what do y'all think?

I google searched those numbers, nothing at all.
If your truck is a 2wd then rip out the old trans, throw the new one in. There is the lock up converter, drive shaft and tv cable to install and sort out. Thats about that I think.

ok, cause i did a little research on the 700R4 an i think its newer than what i was told. although i think im goin to talk to someone at a tranny shop an see if they can help me out with it, as well as get an idea of the rebuild kit, converter, an shift kit to have installed in it.
my truck is a 4x4.
now what would y'all recommend with rebuilding a 700R4? just the usual rebuild kit get it or should i go a little further?

Is the tranny you bought a 4x4 trans? Did it come with the t case?
As far as rebuild kits go, how much wheeling and/or towing are you planning on? Motor mods planed for big hp? Theres a bunch of variables here, but if you can afford it, I'd have the thing built to take a beating. B&M makes a lockup converter kit, a buddy of mine has had one in his 71 c10 for years with no issues.

yep, the tranny is a 4x4 an i got the t-case
i really dont plan on doing much wheeling, maybe once in a while take off road but not to often. as far as towing, the most that its going to do is tow our pontoon boat twice a year. now with motor mods, i dont plan on doing much. the extent is dual exhaust, an puttin an electric fan on it (if that counts lol). but down the road i plan on doing a diesel conversion to it eventually.

Build it as tough as you can afford. Hopefully you got drive shafts, the 700 is a bit longer than the 400 iirc

building it tough, would be to my advantage, even though its gonna be more of a daily driver, as well as do some "light" towing (towing our pontoon boat twice a year)?
