Title: Where to find a shift tube lever for a 1974?
Post by: scorpion on May 23, 2012, 10:00:07 pm
After inspecting the column I have, it occurred that I could salvage it if I could find a shift tube lever to replace the one the previous owner cut off.  I've searched and the places I've found say their discontinued.  Any one know where I could find this part?  A complete shift tube would work too.

Or does anyone know which years levers or tubes interchange with a 1974 k20?

TIA

Hit the junkyard or craigslist. You should be fine up to 77 I think.

Shift tube lever ?  Are you talking about the floor shifter or column shifter ?

The shift tube lever is the thing that the linkage attaches to at the bottom of the steering column (under the hood).  It's basically a steel bracket that rotates at the other end of the steering column when you move the shift handle.
