Title: 383 or 427????
Post by: 87 V20 on June 03, 2012, 12:11:23 am
Ok, ive been plannin on strokin my motor, but just fount from a friend a old chevy van with a 427 in it. If I go the big block route I can save some money on buildin it up a little by sellin my old motor and tranny. Just wanderin if any body had pro's and con's on the big block or the stroker...besides gas mileage, hahaha...They can raise the gas prices all they want but they aint takin my truck. haha....

big block...the small block in my eyes is a racing motor,Light weight more RPMs cheaper parts..The big block makes good power and TQ. for big heavy loads...i think thew big block and carb intake and possible a cam with a rebuild if needed would be the way to go for ya...

Maybe it's because I just woke up, but I can't remember his handle, but a member recently dropped a 427 in his 80. Looks beautiful but I think he had some distributor clearance issues with the tall deck motor.

Was is tx_fiddler? Anyway I'm going for coffee, hopefully I'll remember. But I say 427, just cause they are cool!

If you are going to haul heavy loads a lot, you will be kicking yourself in the butt every time if you go with a small block and smiling real big if you go with a big block.
On the other hand if you are concerned with the price of gas at all, you better weigh that into the equation.

A Tall Deck 427 or a Passenger 427?  Big difference money wise.

If comparing SBC to BBC, no question, BBC.
