What's up everybody. My name is James, I'm new to the forum but have been snooping around for a little while. Seems to be lots of good information and people who don't mind helping others with answers.
Anyway, I thought I would share a little father/son project my dad and I are working on. Still got a ways to go but we are making progress slowly. Should be a fun little ride when we get done with it. Let me know what you guys think.

As far as the truck, my dad actually owns the truck. It has been his lifelong dream to have a Pro Street truck. We both have been spending money to try and get it up and going. It will get there one day. All the work so far, except for the machining on the block, has been done by us. With the help of my uncle and a couple friends who are considered more like family.
The rear end has been notched with a 9" Ford housing with a disc brake conversion, Moser axles, 5.13 gears, Competition Engineering coil overs and adjustable ladder bars.
Power plant wise, we are currently in the process of putting it together as well. It's just a mild pump gas big block. (No replacement for displacement.) It's 468 cubic inch flat top motor. Comp cam 305H with I believe .620 lift. 3/8" comp pushrods, roller rockers, Edelbrock Performer RPM intake, 750cfm Holley Double Pumper that has been reworked and probably somewhere closer to 850 now. Hooker Super Comp big tube headers. Turbo 350 with a Hughes 3000 stall. Nothing to wild just yet, the truck will spend the majority of it's time on the street with a little track time here and there. But plans for bigger and better things under the hood are already in thought.

Going to be a strong truck when all is said and done. Glad to see everyone coming together on this for ol' dad ;D. Shame a lot of us have to wait later in life to have what we wanted in our younger years. What rear street tires are going to be used? My 2¢ if you haven't already bought these yet, since these are very expensive to begin with, don't waste the money on the bias tires. Very squirrelly with any type of moisture on the road. Not a good feeling having the bed try to pass you while going down the highway when you get caught in a rain storm:o. Radials are definitely worth the extra $$. Mount the slicks on some cheep Cragar steel wheels for the "fun times".
What color is in store when the time comes?

We were looking at maybe the Hoosier Quick Time Pro's but not for sure yet. The mock up slicks that are on it now are 33x16, which from what I've gathered are pretty dang close size wise to a 33x21.5 street tire. We were just looking and getting something close to the same size. I'll definitely pass the word on to Pops about the radials.
I think we have decided on going with some color of Red. Exact color not for sure. It was orginally factory red so I might try and find something as close to that as I can. I'm not sure on the paint codes for GM in '82. Probaby gonna put back on all the factory trim and keep it looking as stock as you can with some big ol' meats out back. ;) Not trying to be a copy cat but something along the lines of the look of your truck, which looks killer by the way!!
