Title: Headers for a 4x4

Post by: slammed79 on June 15, 2012, 10:31:14 pm: Shouldn't be an issue. I'm not 100% certain but if its a stick shift you may or may not run into clearance issues with the clutch linkage. I doubt it, but not certain enough.

Post by: bake74 on June 16, 2012, 01:00:09 pm: You should be careful, some long tube headers on these older trucks give clearance issues with a few different items. Front drive shaft for one, inner frame on drivers side for two.
Just do your homework first and see if anyone has installed the headers you want on a truck that is close to yours and you should be fine.

I threw a set from summit in my 84 4x4. The only issue I ran in to was the rear leaf mount on the pass side. I have a th350 and np208-I did have to make shifter linkage for my column shift a wee bit shorter. It would bump the collector when shifting down to 1st; it didn't need to be shorter I was happier to make it that way. Then I ran in to exhaust shops not wanting to build an exhaust system for duals out...I'll post a pic when I get back to AK on Sunday night if you want-

You should consider an "h" or an "x" system to equal out the dual exhaust. Otherwise you could get a different note from each side of the exhaust.
