Title: If you had $500 to spend on your truck...
Post by: Shawn0331 on June 17, 2012, 06:27:32 pm
What would you buy if you had $500 to spend on your truck? I'm getting some back pay and my wife has agreed to let me spend $500 on my truck for whatever I want (score!).

A few things I'm wanting, but I'm open to suggestions:

Any suggestions?

for $500 I would fix anything that keeps it from being inspectable, driveable. comfortable. in that order. :>

After I get the short found and fixed, I'm putting in the oil pressure switch and sending units, then it's all fun money. It runs like a champ.

Hmm... $500? I'd get my drop springs and shocks, then get my swb frame finished up.

I would probably let the little problems with my truck go. i would spend it on my 55, or buy a new seat for the bike!!  ;D

Gas.

Actually I like Blazin's thinking.   :)
500 could go toward other things. (tools? sock it aside until needed?)   For me, if 500 fell into my lap, may look into a cam change for my truck.  But, I could find other things to spend it on, unfortunately.

I'd probably throw it at the machine shop work needed on my 454 rebuild.

I had a problem with my 70 monte and an electrical short. What I did was take an amp meter tape the negative to a battery post and the positive to the battery cable. If you have a short it will show a voltage/amps whatever you have it set at. Start at the battery and and unplug everything one plug at a time leading into the cab. Once you unplug the thing shorting the voltage will drop to nil.

I'd do the first two.  they are about functionality and the last two are cosmetic.

On the other hand, if the bad dash is irritating you since it's all you see while driving, I might do that first.

I'd definately want the windows working.  its a big pain in the butt when they quit working, or worse yet get stuck DOWN.  I'd definately make the window motors #1.
