Title: 305 Headers
Post by: ReactionDT on June 19, 2012, 06:48:42 pm
Can anyone point me in the direction of a decent pair of headers to fit a 305 in a 86 C10 with A/C. They can be ceramic coated or painted. I'm not too picky but I'm not looking for anything outrageous. Just more so of a pair with good flow and ease of installation  :o. Also can anyone give me any input on X pipe vs H pipe? Thanks. Also failed to mention all the smog mess has been removed.

Hooker makes a set for the older 2wd GM's. I did the exact same to my truck when it had a 305, installed very easy. Just had to take out the spark plugs and install from under the truck upwards, might have to jack the front end up a few inches but otherwise should slide right in. Big improvement.

I would have to say hooker is the best for the money.I have a h-pipe on mine and my brother has a x-pipe on his suburban,I cant see or feel any difference.

I loves me some hooker headers. Hedman also makes good stuff.

The Are emissions/smog required on your truck? You'll want to make sure those have the air tubes to keep you legal if need to be.

Also, you'll probably need some brackets to make your a/c work worth the headers, check summit for that.

I live in Alabama with zero smog regulations and I believe it'd be a while before they were ever brought to my state. All the smog equipment has been removed from my vehicle anyway. So I'm guessing the only thing I'll have to find is a A/C bracket but im also wondering if I've got to find a power steering spacer?
