Title: Quadrajet idle solenoid
Post by: Fairlane514 on June 22, 2012, 10:12:11 am: I need help finding a idle solenoid for my quadrajet. It bumps up the idle when you turn on the A/C,.................. the previous owner removed it.

Post by: Fairlane514 on June 22, 2012, 04:09:14 pm: Well, I got the NAPA part and it looked good, but its not the right one. Bracket is wrong and terminal is on the wrong side. I could probably make it work, but I would have to drill out some spot welds and turn the "motor" 180 degrees, and make a new bracket.

The more I mess with it, I could just add a piece of metal to the linkage so the plunger has something to push against.

Post by: Fairlane514 on June 22, 2012, 07:29:53 pm: Yes, its the correct 1984 quadrajet. I ended up using some .060 aluminum and making a "stop" for the solenoid plunger. It works, I just need to check my rpms at idle and see how much it kicks up when the solenoid is activated.

Glad you found one, so sorry I hadn't ventured out to the shed yet... Still a little wobbly walking on uneven ground yet...
