Title: Engine Question For My 83 Project

I am currently building an 83 crew cab short bed 4x4 1/2 ton, it has a 350 engine in it now with a 700R4 tranny and I believe a 208 transfer case. Is it possible to drop in a newer 5.3 to the 700R4 or would I have to also install a newer transmission to work with the newer motor? I'm trying to decide which motor to run with due to the strict emissions rules we have here.

     Yes you can drop a 5.3 with the 700r4, you will need and adapter for the trans and newer motor mounts and of course set up the ECS and wiring.
