How low can you go before you have to c-notch the frame on a 1974 c 10 sortbed 2wd? Also does anyone know what narrorer rearend will fit under these trucks? My friend put a ford 9" under his that was 2" narrorer. Would like to stay with chevy.

I believe you can go about 5 inches before you have to c-notch the frame. And as for a narrowed rear end, people do it all the time so yes the do fit, and I really hate to say it but the ford 9" is one of the best rear ends you can have.

9" is more popular because of its steel housing.  Easier to weld on, plus you can bench setup the gearset.

In reality a 12bolt is just as strong and uses let power to operate by design.  Downfall is you can weld confidently to the center section.
