Hello-
My name is Cameron in real life, udallcustombikes on the interwebs. I just picked up an '81 short-wide from a friend and am happy to be back in a Chevy. My first truck was a hand-me-down '83 from my dad when he got an '86, mom had an '85 Suburban. After I got married we had a '77 'Burb for a while. I learned how to fix cars on these and I feel right at home in the new truck.
My '81 has a 350 backed up with a TH400. The friend I got it from dropped it down with spindles, springs, and shackles. He parked it two years ago with water spraying out from between the head and block. I have put a couple hundred miles on it now with no signs of a leak (still carrying 5 gallons of water just in case). The truck came with rust repair panels and new door and window seals, and a handful of other parts. So far I have patched up most of the rust (still need a rocker on the passenger side), replaced the passenger door, and been working on paint prep. This is my first time with body repair and painting so, like me, It ain't perfect.
I go by udallcustombikes because of my hobby (wife says "obsession") of collecting, restoring and customizing antique and vintage bicycles. I had to sell some of my collection to finance the truck but I don't mind. I am a moderator on www.ratrodbikes.com, a forum dedicated to others like myself.
I have been married for 14 years to a very understanding lady and we have three wonderful kids-Caleb (17), Hannah (12), and Chloe (10).
Anyway here is the truck and some of my bikes thrown in as well.

Hello from Saint John, KS. I like the bikes. I prefer ones with motors, but still nice. Couple of questions, what are the center caps from and do you know how much it is lowered?

I believe the wheels and center caps are from an '88-95. The front is lowered 4 1/2" and the rear 6"

The project has kinda stalled out. On Friday the 13th I went to get the new rocker panel to complete the rust repairs and I was rear ended. The damage isn't real bad, but I am stuck in limbo while the insurance tries to decide between repairing the damage or totaling it out. I sent in the receipt for the rebuilt engine, photo documentation for the suspension modifications and the 30 hours of body work I have in it preparing for paint. I hope to hear back in the next couple days.
