Title: Clutch resivior hose...what should I use???
Post by: thefarmboy21 on July 12, 2012, 03:08:14 pm
My 86 has a hydraulic clutch and it needs a new master cylinder because it is leaking. The hose that runs from the resivior to the master cylinder is just a black rubber hose but it is severely dry cracked and I don't even know how it's holding up. So, what kind of hose do I replace it with? Ex co-workers from AZ said just regular fuel line will be fine. Anyone have any experience with this???

Fuel hose isn't rated fore hydraulic pressure.

Here is what you need

From the reservoir to the master is not under pressure.  I've wondered the same thing as both my hoses described in the title on my 85 and 86 are cracked badly.

I have regular fuel line on mine. It's been there a while and seems to be holding up fine. I just looked at it to make sure before I posted this. It may not be the correct type of line but it works.

Yea it has no pressure at all. All it's there for is to transfer the brake fluid. I just want to make sure the brake fluid won't eat the regular gas line. I thought maybe I would need vinyl or power steering hose etc...
