hey all,
can any one give me an idea of the average price for a paint job? the body appears rust free and fairly straight. going to guess no filler because the truck is black and it is not wavy. i want to paint it prowler orange. i know the paint is around 150 at the dealer.

That sounds cheap for paint.
Paint, primer, clear coat, and reducers for my truck cost about $1,000.

You get what you pay for when dealing with paint jobs. A lot of people don't like maaco paint jobs, but I've gotten decent color change jobs from them. I had my old 91 cc dually changed over to red from white. It cost 2 grand, but I paid for the top tier prep job. Came out great for a driver.
There are things you can do to help the cost as well. I stripped my interior, glass (except the windshield) door handles, trim, bumpers, etc. Removing all that yourself is less time the shop has to spend doing it, thus saving you money. Above all else, make sure you spend the coin for the prep work.

Are you wanting to know about how much it would be to paint a truck? Genereally speaking expect $2500-up for a decent job and the higher the price the better the paint job.
-
paint jobs can range from hundreds to tens of thousands of dollars, from my experience respectable starts at about 2500, 6,000 can be real nice. this will vary greatly depending on what is needed and who does it. Your best bet is to hit up a local car show and ask around and you can check the work right then. They can also tell you who to avoid and who to see.

I don't want to say final price, but I spent a little over $9k repainting my crew cab dually.
Keep in mind that I just dropped the truck off and didn't do any prep work of my own. The shop also replaced my windshield and a few body pieces. Not to mention it was a large truck to paint, not like painting an Austin Mini.

My truck ended up being around $4200 OTD. Check my build thread to see what all they did. I sent them a stripped truck. You can see my "when i dropped it off" pics and what I got back from them (still stripped) just painted.
