hey does anyone know if aftermarket aluminum pulleys can be used on a serpentine setup with the stock serp brackets .a guy told me u have to buy the aftermarket brackets for the aluminum pulleys to work .i figure as long as i use the correct water pump(rev) and crank pulley it should work .i know there is a diff in offset between long and short water pumps and matching crank pulley .Carcraft did this on a 383 with stock pulleys ,but i think it would look nice with aluminum pulleys .check out CARCRAFT MAG .under Tech -Budget serpentine drive

· Crank Pulley – 6.5”
· Alternator Pulley – 4.5”
· Water Pump Pulley - 5”
· Keyed Power Steering Pump Pulley 6”
Pulleys are for a 6 Rib Belt.

I have run into the spacing between the studs on the water pump being different from a 4.3 to a V8. Not sure if that will affect your set up, but something to keep in mind besides the long, and short pumps.
Our trucks were never offered with a short pump either.

oh ok. u mean the fan mounting studs , i plan on buying a new pump anyway (chrome or alum).my plan was just to use the brackets and not the pump or pulleys .im using all aftermarket pulleys with chrome power steering pump and alternator .i think the guy told me i could use use the set of pulleys in the pic because the ps pulley is for a keyed pump and the 87-95 1500's came with press fit i think .i wish i would have reseached this setup first before i bought my v belt setup
