Title: Thinking about these in 17"
Post by: greatdane on August 06, 2012, 11:50:41 am
What do ya'll think? I'm thinking of getting these Rev(American Racing)wheels! What tire size works well with 17" wheels on a standard height truck. I really dont think Im going to lower it much if at all. I'm thing 17x8's? Please post pics of any 17" wheel & tire combo on 73-87 trucks so I can see tire size....

Those would look very good on your truck.
I don't know what size works but 10 10 tires has a nice calculator to help you figure it out.

Wished I knew how to photo shop them onto my truck ???

Ive been looking and found a set of 2 17x8 & 2 17x9 on ebay. I really want to keep it were I could rotate tires though. 275/55/17's or 275/60/17's? I think

I love those rims, I have them on my Stingray. On the other hand, I love the ones you already have on too, I think they look better on the truck, when it's not really "customized".

Those wheels would look good on that truck pretty much no matter what tire you choose.

Captkaos... are those 17x8? I like that look. Your truck is factory height too correct?

Guys,

What kind of backspacing do you run with 17x8 's all the way around?  Assuming a stock height truck.

Thanks!

Most of the ones I've seen are available in 4.5" back spacing....

Also I am considering these MB Old School Wheels...in 17x8

I like them & the Revs trying to decide between them..

UPS man showed up last night with them! Tires going on today. These wheels look way better in person than in pictures. They were also $200 cheaper than the Revs. I like em alot.... ;D

Thinking about bringing it down 3 & 4 inches
What is a good way to go? If you go 3" drop coils and 4" shackles & hangers do you need to modify or change anything else? Like shocks or pinion angle blah...blah...??
Or would drop spindles be a better route to go?

Looks great.

BTW, I run 4" backspacing for stock 8" wide tires, you can get away with less on the rear if you want to move the tire out to match the front.  The impala SS wheels I have use 5.25" backspacing.
