Title: few pics of my 76 interior with procar low back buckets
Post by: JB76 on August 22, 2012, 12:54:45 pm
I see alot of threads about "what buckets fit" etc so thought I would show mine. My truck originally had a bench, I removed that and bought the procar brackets and low back buckets and bolted them in with a factory console. These slide, retract and fold forward with a map pocket in back. They do require one bolt hole each to be drilled in front middle since theres none from factory bench.

brackets were part # 81196B and 81197B $76.95ea
seats were part # 80-1400-51R and 80-1400-51L and $230.95 each all were in stock and shipped from summit with no oversize charges.

Are those seat bracks bolt in or did you make those? Looks awsome, they are the best fitting buckets I've seen!

thanks guys, those seat brackets are right out of the box as you see them. They use the 3 original seat bracket/belt mounting bolts and you just have to drill one hole for the front inner near the hump and thats it, everything else bolted right in out of the box.

How are these seats size-wise? I'm not small at 6'2", 270 lbs so a tiny seat isn't good. I hear the Procar Rally's are small but the Elites are better, and more money. I was thinking of these or perhaps the Sportsman 1610. I have buckets in mine from a 99 S-series Blazer right now and they fit me fine but don't 'hold' me well as there is basically zero bolstering. And I hate the fact that they don't flip forward.

Love that look. I've been considering taking out my bench and putting buckets in my 87. I'll will be looking into those brackets for sure.

yes they slide forward/back and also recline forward/back with a map pocket on back

Im 6'2 242 lbs and they fit me fine but they don't have side bolstering, these aren't modern sport car seats more of a stock replacement designed after the original truck seats. They do fold forward completely flat

Thanks these are good seats, they have many styles to chose from, main thing is the brackets fit perfect and only require you to drill one hole

Thanks for the info. The brackets are really an awesome thing for our trucks. I wonder if they could be used for other seats, like factory seats from a VW, BMW or something like that....

Thanks guys, the seats are really comfortable no complaints so far, interior is holding up well.

They do recline forward and back, heres a picture with them forward showing the map pocket and back of seats.

Thanks for posting how they have been holding up. I, and my wife, like the look so much I'm probably going to buy those same seats and brackets within the next week or so :)

Couple more questions for you:

- Do you sit at about the same height as the stock bench?
- Does it feel weird not having headrests or are the seat backs about the same height as the bench?
- Can you please tell me what the clear distance is between the two seats (where the console goes)?
- How long did it take for your order to come in from Summit?

Thanks!

Thanks I will try and post more pics to help answer some of your questions.

Do you sit at about the same height as the stock bench?........yes, if you look at the pics below and compare the lower cushion height of both bench (my trucks before pic) and buckets (after makeover) to the door panel armrest you can see its about the same. These seats have 2 height positions on the brackets, mine are on lowest but they can be raised approx. 1" depending on how you bolt to base floor bracket.

Does it feel weird not having headrests or are the seat backs about the same height as the bench? ............no not at all, bench seats don't have headrest so why would having buckets feel any different. For my 1976 the factory buckets had no headrests and I wanted to mine to look "period" correct as much as possible within reason. They do sell this same seat with a headrest version if you want headrests.

if you look at this pic you can see the top of the seat is about 2" below rear glass, not sure where bench top falls but IIRC its about the same, these are called lowbacks lol

Can you please tell me what the clear distance is between the two seats (where the console goes)? ............near the hump the front gap is 16" and at the back its 18" (seat bottom tapers or flares out towards front legs as shown)

How long did it take for your order to come in from Summit? .......... about 3-4 days, they were in stock when I ordered.

That's awesome, thanks for all that. The price has unfortunately gone up since you bought them and seats and brackets are now $649, but shipping cost is included from Summit which is great. I'm going to go for it!

Looks great!  Super envious.  I put buckets in mine, they were cheap, but they need to be recovered and they're high back which I am not super fond of.  I think I'll remove the head rests when I cover them.  I built my brackets which worked out once I got everything to fit properly.

Thanks I like it much better than when I bought the truck.

I had the high back buckets in here at first, but they didnt recline and the pass side was fixed and didnt even slide. I looked at other seats and the cost of recovering them wasnt much less than these when new (not counting bracket cost). I dont have the skills to fab/weld so making custom brackets was out of my league lol.

I'm in exactly the same boat as JB76, I don't have the knowledge or equipment to weld. I've looked into the cost of recovering seats that I've found or even buying a Katzkin leather set and they have been as much or more than buying the Procar seats and brackets. I'm looking forward to buying them and the simple installation.

I'd buy a set of those brackets if i could use them for other seats. I'm currently looking into a set of 2001 Monte Carlos SS leather seats for my truck.

I think with a little ingenuity, you could use just about any seat. Those brackets provide a level surface to mount something too. Often seats these days bolt flat to the floor or the fronts are bent 90 degrees down. These brackets can accommodate either the front or the rear holes of a bucket seat and a piece of metal plate or angle iron can be bolted to the bracket to get the other set of holes bolted on the plate piece.

In good order to keep beating a dead horse. I just raided my retirement account to fix a '76 SWB. I appreciate the pictures as I am sold on what I was mulling over.
For your console, where did you order it, or how/what did you use?
Thanks,

Thanks guys, I got the console off ebay, guy said it was from a 74 but who knows. It came with mounting brackets. I had to drill a couple small holes in floor but it was no big deal at all.

Heres some pics showing the entire truck I rebuilt/replaced alot lol
