Title: 375/41 dizzy center plate and weights
Post by: 454Man on August 24, 2012, 09:19:32 am
Ive been looking for a while now and came across a guy with a yard full of 73-87 trucks and suburbans, but he won't let me check out the dizzys for these center plates and weights. Texas spuare bodies.... He always post on Dallas CL. I'm heading to another yard that I know of to search. If I can find em i'm going to cut a few extras out if possible. Anyone had any luck finding these?

They are pretty cheap new, and are subject to rust and wear.  Summit has a cheap set of weights and springs and the $50 new distributors that are out there are hard to beat.

Well went to the yard and found then in a 84 suburban with a 350. Popped them in without setting the timing and it pings at wot. I used one stock spring and a medium spring from my moroso advance kit. The stock spring tension is between light and medium spring .i'm gonna get my timing light out and get this right. Previously I set my initial to 10°, so I didn't reset the timing again

Gonna try a stiffer spring combo in the morning. That should cure it

Well I reset the timing to 12° and used the two medium springs, then added 10°  of vac advance. ....wow! bottom end is more responsive and I can lay more rubber:-)  engine seems to run cooler. In the past ive tried the aftermarket kits with no luck compared to just adding two medium springs to stock weights, so this time I had to see what all the hype was about with these weights and center plate. Glad I found some. for those who can't find them I had great luck with just the stock centet plate and weights +  medium springs from the moroso advance kit on my esc dizzy

Idle quality is stunning. The engine will idle very smooth@ 350 rpm WITH the AC on. I was gonna spend crazy cash on a d.u.i. Dizzy but not any more.  Im neck and neck with my 07 charger with the hemi now.
