I am fairly new to this site although I have been signed up for a good while. With that said I know that parts can be obtained through this site but what are some other good places to get parts for these trucks. I have the and Classic Industries catalogs. I know very little about either one and not sure if they offer quality proucts. Are there any other companies out there.

Start here http://store.73-87chevytrucks.com/merchant2/ email Chris the site owner if you don't see what you are looking for, he is a stand up guy and sell nothing but quality. Right below your post is the banner, click on that and it will get you to the same place.

It depends on what part you are looking for. I would say as far as body and sheetmetal, either from another truck or on this sites store. Most from the catalogues do not fit well at all.
If you are looking for something found at auto parts store then local would save you shipping.

Do you have a delco parts store near you? i've had good luck with them as well as napa among other places.
i think we are in a good cycle/position; There are so many of these trucks produced and still running AND, as you probably know, a lot of the parts on these trucks are shared with many cars---which in turn were also produced in great numbers and still running---like the g-bodys, s-10's etc. So, as a result, there are many parts available and cheap too.
This in turn kind of insures that the trucks will be rolling for a long time to come and so it's like a big cycle that feeds itself.
You don't see too many, for example, 80's jaguars rolling around because there weren't that many produced, even when produced parts were expensive. So, the incentive to keep them running wasn't there.

I was just wondering about interior parts- dash pads, seat covers, carpet, door panels, etc. and quality sheet metal, patch panels and such.
i have new GM doors and fenders still in the box but I got them quite some time ago. Does GM still sell anything for these trucks. I think the last thing I got from them was my grille and that was about ten years ago. Interior and exterior trim would be another thing to have a place to get it at.

I sell all of those parts hat you are asking about. GM still has "some" stuff for these but they are dwindling. Sheetmetal is not going to be out there.

Hey guys I'm new to this site, just got an 85 swb. No offense but the prices on this site seem a little higher than others. A good site I've been looking at for body parts and other things for my truck is summit racing. Real good prices for good stuff. Look on ebay.

You get what you pay for when it comes to aftermarket parts. This site generally carries known quality replacement parts, while some of the parts you get from others (including summit and the site which must not be named) have fitment issues. Ebay is a big gamble.

rock auto has a great site
for certain items, electrical components for ex. i would try to get original ac delco if possible
there are many companies which sell parts for the older trucks,
their catalogs are a great reference tool. but be aware you will find most stuff on the "pricey" side. a few years back i replaced my tank and needed the fuel filler and vent hose and i was shocked at how much they were.
if i were looking for certain 73-87 specific parts ... i would consider getting the parts from this site, simply for the sake of supporting the site as i find it to be a great resource of information.

For all the great people involved in this site and the headaches they have helped me out of I will pay the few extra dollars

Me compared to Summit is slightly jaded. There is only one of me here, and they have 100's of employees. Many parts I have are actually cheaper. They have more buying power, so they can cut the sheet metal prices down. What I sell supports this site so I don't have to charge for this free info and community. What is summit doing for you?
What does summit have that is cheaper, I haven't raised prices in about 5 years...
