Title: another new guy from NJ
Post by: James Hart on September 13, 2012, 04:56:02 pm
Hello all,

Just started researching after catching the truck bug.  The wife has always wanted one, I am more of a hotrod wagon fan... but we really need a pickup so we can stop having to rent or borrow.  Ideally I'm looking for a 2WD big block, but any V8 will work.  Looking to make it a mild tuned grocery getter... drop spindles and street tires. As much as my toy, it'll be HER truck  8)

This is the second Chevy Truck forum I've signed up for... if it's anything like the music forums I frequent, a lot of the names are going to cross over!  Nice to meet all y'all and I hope to have truck pictures and projects to share in the near future!

Thanks Chris, I'm enjoying 'catching up' on all the info here.  Currently trying to wrap my brain around the 'what wheel/tire fits my setup' question... lots of opinions, lots of picture backed facts... but no standard as to method used to get to the heights in question.

I've got my heart set on some polished salt flats wearing good old T/A radials... I'm an older guy and like that 70s muscle car 'meat on the tires' look.  Weighing the 15" vs 16" thing now... as well as the biggest size to fit all around with just Belltech 3" drop spindles vs separate sizes front & back.

:)  you'd think I'd buy the truck first, but I grew up in the 70s with my old man's car parts catalogs making parts lists for either baja bug or jeep builds for fun.
