Hi guys, this is my first post so bear with me. I have a 73 GMC, bought new. My question, has anybody heard of retro fitting an independent torsion bar front suspension to one of these? I'm looking for a way to smooth out the ride. Or has anybody seen airbags on the original suspension?

Welcome from California. Front torsion bar suspension is not the way to go for the smoothest ride. Couple of questions, are you planning on jacking it up or leaving it stock height ? Are you going to be wheeling it or it is going to be a street queen ?
These are but a few that need to be answered first before you decide on what type of suspension you go with.

Welcome from northern NY. This is a common question for our fellow members" how do I get this lumber wagon to ride better".While there are many options there a few things you can do to "loosen "up your current suspension . One of the silent killers of your suspension is your suspension bushings there's actually a total of 12 bushings between front and back.what usually happens is the bolts for your spring eye bushings seize to the steel sleeve that's inside of the rubber bushing. There is a variety of aftermarket polyurethane that you can replace them with. Also on reinstallation use some never seize on the bolts. Frequently You have to replace the rear spring hanger as they fall victim to rust.
