Would anyone know why my fuel gauge reads the amount of fuel correctly but shows on the wrong spot on the gauge? A full tank now reads at half and empty reads at about the 9 o'clock position on the gauge, for both tanks. It had been correct for a while than out of nowhere went wacky, while I am glad it still shows my fuel level it would be nice to have it show in the right spot on the gauge. Thanks

The pointer could have slipped on the peg. My Tahoe did the same thing, I filled the tank and pulled the needle and replaced it at the full mark, with the cluster powered up.

I might have to do that if I can't figure out what happened, the weird thing is if I unplug the multi plug from the tank switch that goes thru the firewall the gauge goes to full, don't know why but thats what it does.

With it unhooked it should go to about 3 o'clock

Good to know, that's about how much its off too, might just have to pop the needle off and move it, thanks for the tips.

They do this if the sending wire has been shorted.

Interesting, maybe I will run a new wire first before messing with the gauge itself, thanks.

The shorting effects the sending unit, not the wire.
