Title: Use old AC system or go to after market?

I am removing the AC system from an 84 cab.  Should I reinstall it, or go to after market system?

It is hard to beat factory installed AC in our trucks.  They were well designed IMO and work very well.  That said if the cab was originally set up for AC I would say stay original.  If your cab is a non-AC type aftermarket would be my choice.  My $.02

I agree ^^^ also If it doesn't cool as well as you would like it too (sitting at idle etc) try putting an electric fan in front of the condenser blowing into it, just hook it into the ac compressor switch wire with a relay. Also make sure when you get ready to put it all back that you pull a good vacuum on it and I would use the uv dye oil. Makes finding future leaks a lot easier.
