I havnt tested it in high yet, but in low, 4wd lightly binds. Cant shift out of 4wd unless i put it in reverse and tugon the shifter to get it out. >:(

First thought, did you check to make sure your shifter, can move freely and not be binding causing the hard to shift problem ?

it will shift freely, until i place it into 4 low, and move the truck. after i move the truck in four wheel drive, it is hard to move.

Is this a part time 4x4, either NP205 or converted NP203, or is it a full-time NP203?

Driving on hard surfaces can cause driveline stress (bind) that would make it difficult to shift the transfer case. Another thought, front and rear axle gears are not matched.

i have changed the rear axle, but checked ratios and havnt had any trouble at all the last several years. im unsure of the transfercase, it shows 4 low, neutral, 2 hi, and 4hi. also has manual locking hubs.
