Hello all, new guy here, first post. I just bought a 77 silverado and the only thing not working is the temp gauge. I noticed the sending unit was not connected and no wires in sight. A new sending unit was only $7 and I figured the old was disconnected for a reason. Now I've got the new one in im wondering where to look for wires and what color. Thanks in advance.

Green I believe

Welcome from Central California. Take a moment and introduce yourself in the Welcome section of the forum.
The wire you're looking for is dark green. On V8 engines the wire runs from the firewall bulkhead connector to the back of the intake manifold, then along the left side of the intake where it will drop down from the valve cover directly to the sender near the left front of the engine between cylinders 1 and 3. But, don't confuse it with the idle solenoid wire, which is similar in color and location.

Thank you guys, turns out the gauge works fine, terminal is worn and won't stay attached, is there any where that sells this type of connector?

Any ACDelco dealer should be able to supply the terminal and connector as an assembled pigtail. See the two examples pictured below... either should work for the temp sender. Or, any auto parts supply should have just the terminal by itself.

Wow you guys are fast and resourceful, thanks again.

I realize this is an old post but, I need to get a couple of the pigtails BD mentioned. I'm having difficulty locating them. Anyone have any ideas where I could get some? Thanks in advance.
