Title: No tails on on exhaust
Post by: 78heavyhalf on October 13, 2012, 11:43:30 pm
I was just wondering if it's dangerous not running tailpipes on my exhaust just headers to muffler but the muffler ends right by the tanks the exhuast is 2 1/2 inch x-pipe original 40 series flowmaster and edelbrock shorty headers...Thanks

You might get some fumes in the truck when ideling. Should at least turn them out in front of the tires.
Thats how I run all my trucks because tail pipes don't last long backing into snow banks, and windrows a dozen plus times a storm.

I agree with blazin, also make sure no wiring or anything else that can melt is in the way of the exhaust. I ran My old 77 with a 383 and straight headers ( headers and collectors nothing after the collectors :D) and I watched my rubber floor mat start bubbling going down the road... You wouldn't think it but the exhaust gas can heat some stuff up quick.
