Title: Need help/advice on 82" duallie rear end
Post by: gmfrance on December 28, 2003, 12:00:00 pm
I'm working on a 1982 GMC 1 ton dually and currently going through the brakes and need some advice on the rear end. I assume there is a special socket to remove and install the lock nut on the hub. Where might I find such an animal? I hope it's not a GM item only. Does the socket for the lock nut also fit the adjusting nut? If not, what type of socket do I need once I get to it?

The second thing is that the self-adjusting screw seems to be frozen. About the only possible solution I can come up with is to try to get some WD40 on the threads and try to work it back and forth till I can back it off. Anyone have any other suggestions?

Which rear end do you have? Do you have the Standard GM Dually issue Dana 70, or do you have the Full Floater GM 14 bolt that you see on steakbed duallies?
