Title: 64 in drive shaft
Post by: Farm boy on October 24, 2012, 03:44:29 pm
a while back i had asked you guys about changing my 86 k10 from a th350 to a sm465. well i finally almost have it done. my problem is now that i have the sm465 (short tranny) and a np205 t-case (not exactly long ether) and a long bed, i need a 64 in drive shaft n i have been on a wild goose chase for a few weeks now trying to get something to fit in there. i actually did get one but its a new type so the u-joints are too big. i tried summit but they dont have anything long enough under $400 (if at all, i gave up when i hit 400). So today i called the local welding shop and he doesnt have the stuff to lengthen mine, now im just about out of ideas so i thought id see if any of you had any.

A shop that does rear ends and transmissions should be able to build one. Also check with race car shops/4wd shops/or a large truck shop.

ok, my next try was bigger junk yards but that sounds like a good bet too. also i was thinking, the set-up i have in there came together out of a K20, n i also know that they were in K30s too. so i was thinking that those r long beds shouldnt they have the same length shaft?

go to napa and tell them what your working on, they arnt afraid of pulling out their u-joint book and find what odd ball u-jpiont you need.
