I am installing a crate 350 and will use an Edelbrock carb on it, so I'm going to install an Edelbrock fuel pump as well. I have dual tanks.
The Edelbrock pump has the traditional two connections. The OE pump has 3 connections, the suction, the pressure plus one more. What is this small hose for? Pressure valve return? Drain? I assume I plug this one.

A 3-port SB mechanical fuel pump uses the following connections:
* 3/8" hose bibb "inlet" from the tank
* 1/4" hose bibb "return" to the tank (used on some 3/4-ton & 1-ton applications to prevent vapor lock issues by moving a continuous flow of fuel through the supply line and pump to cool them)
* 3/8" steel tubing "outlet" to the carb

Plugging the return pipe to the fuel tank is the sensible thing to do when converting to a 2-port fuel pump. The only drawback in converting from a 3-port to a 2-port pump is the potential for vapor lock on hot days.

I don't want to have to have a fuel pressure regulator. I don't have a problem with my 54 Chevy. It has a 350 SBC and Edelbrock pump.

I think you will be fine with what you have in mind.
