Title: Aligning barn doors....
Post by: 1979C20 on October 29, 2012, 10:32:20 pm
It seems as though the only adjusting that can be done on the barn doors is in and out. I need my driver side door to rotate clockwise and eighth inch and move right some. I also think it needs to go down a bit. I couldnt tell you why they are so misaligned.... What kind of adjusting can be done on them?

What year Suburban?  There should be some adjustment in the mounting bolts for tilt.

Its my 89. The only adjustment i can see are the bolta where the hing mounts to the body and to the door. 3 bolts on each side of all 4 hinges. Geometrically speeking, i can only adjust the doors in and out, but not left or right.

Is there some slop in the hinge pins? It almost sounds like you have some sag going on. New bushings may be in order

I'd try some shims behind the hinges and see what happens

I think it would be quite difficult to get a shim in there. Although, I was able to adjust it a little bit by pulling down on the top of the door. Now I just need to adjust it in some and adjust the strikers. Thanks guys.
