Hey guys, I'm trying to take my 74 to heat and defrost only and want to clean up all un-necessary wiring and ac parts from the engine bay. If you've got a truck that WAS NOT equiped with factory air I would love to see some pics of the engine bay, specifically the passenger side firewall area so I can see what is and isnt there as far as fixtures and wiring goes. thanks in advance for any help!!!

The firewall is different between AC and non-AC. There is a supplier that has AC delete housing designed to do what you want. I am sure someone will provide a link to it...

so I cant just yank out the housing and condenser and seal with sheetmetal? Thats depressing. lol

You could, I guess I wasn't clear on your asking. If you are looking to rid the whole thing you can smooth the firewall. I just thought you wanted to rid the AC stuff

The blower motor mounts to the plastic housing

thank you, I found the covers for $149.99. I want to convert to heat/defrost only. I dont really have alot of cash right now so I'm thinking I'll goto a pull a part yard and get a condenser box that isnt busted, gut it and just seall off the ac line outlets as a temp fix until I can afford that ac delete cover. thanks again for the help. ;)

Any time, that is what we are here for. Use the search function, there is a good thread with pictures on someone replacing his AC cab with a non-AC cab and making the conversion... This will give you a better idea of the differences.

I actually found a pretty good thread on another forum after you told me about the housing. I just know I gotta get this heat going asap and right now with that housing being busted up all my heat is blowing out into the engine compartment!

On page two of this thread there are pictures of what you need to do.

THANKS! That's what I was looking for. So I just hafta get that housing from justyard and modify the hole in the firewall a bit. Sweet. Should be about to do this for a couple bucks and a couple hours. :)
