The 350 in my truck is currently leaking oil like a sieve so i have been exploring rebuild options. I want to do some performance modifications as well to make the effort worthwhile. I have never done a rebuild, but I have pulled engines and replaced gaskets, oil pumps, etc so I think I can handle it. I am leaning towards stroking the engine and wanted some recommendations on parts. I am looking at a 383 build in a Dave Vizard book I own as my basis:
Crank: Scat 3.75 9000 cast steel
Rods: Scat stroker rods
Pistons: KB cast flat top .030 oversize
Cam: COMP Xtreme Energy 270
Lifters: COMP 812-16 hydraulic flat tappet
Valvetrain: COMP 986 springs, alum. roller rockers 1.6 intake and exhaust
Heads: Fully ported 186 iron w/ 2.02/16 valves
Intake: Edelbrock Performer RPM 2-plane
Carb: Holley 750
Headers: walker 1 5/8 inch
Block will be bored.030 over and decked to 9.000 inches
Resulting CR is 10:1
My big questions is what else can I do for heads? The heads mentioned I have been told are not that common and I am better off going with something new/aftermarket. Perhaps Dart 180cc or something?
Thoughts on this setup?

What is the intended purpose? I wouldn't run any pre-96 head on it, I would go Vortec heads if cost is an issue and change the intake to match.

I don't really have a serious answer to that, but I want more power, specifically more low end torque. So just for kicks.

I figured you would say Vortec. Whats a fair price on used Vortec heads? Any recommendations for aftermarket Vortec heads?
