i have a 86 silverado with a 350. does anyone know where the wire from the a/c compressor goes to? it was clipped by the previous owner and i dont know where it is supposed to be, everything works otherwise but the compressor wont lock up

On the factory A/C system, a dark green wire runs from the compressor toward the back of the engine then over to the low pressure cycling switch that threads into the accumulator on the passenger side evaporator housing. From there the wire color changes to light green and runs into the dash controls. A second (black) wire runs from the compressor clutch to an intake manifold ground stud adjacent to the compressor.

i cant seem to open that picture :-\ , so if i understrand this right do i just ground the wire coming off the compressor?

There should be two wires off the compressor: one (a dark green power wire) connects to the switch on the accumulator, the other (black) connects to an engine ground stud near the compressor. The compressor requires both wire connections to engage.
See if you're able to open the wiring diagram here... http://forum.73-87chevytrucks.com/smforum/index.php/topic,24981.msg208148.html#msg208148 (http://forum.73-87chevytrucks.com/smforum/index.php/topic,24981.msg208148.html#msg208148)

You can see the green wire here with a grey connector on it right under the firewall clamp. Yours should come from the same place.
