Title: Did 1981 1/2ton c-10's come with 8.5 10bolt rears? Thought they came with 12's

I have a 1981 1/2ton 2wd shortbed c-10 that has the 8.5 10bolt rear. I was always under the impression that 1981 was the last year for the 12bolt. Is this original equipment ?

I parted out an '83 c-10 and it had a 12 bolt in it. As far as I could tell the truck was all original.

My 82 has a 10 bolt rear

1981 could be either from the factory, the 12 bolts were phased out by 1982, they had to use up the leftover 12's.
That being said with these trucks into the 30 year mark there is no telling what is in them now...
