Title: bumper
Post by: PromiseKeeper on December 19, 2012, 10:43:15 pm
drove by a K5 blazer today that was hit in the front end. It looks to have a nice chrome bumper on the rear. Will that bumper interchange with a front pickup bumper?

No the bumpers do not interchange front & rear. It would be the same style & match the front of a truck assuming it's of the same year group ('73-'80 or '81-up). For starters you got the license plate cutout area & bolts for the brackets are in different locations. Sorry, Lorne

What is the emblem on your grille?
It's an Oldsmobile emblem.

Now's the time I could start to tell you it's a REALLY rare truck from Canada or something...but I'll just tell you the truth ;)  I made it, a 3"x5" 1/4" thick piece of aluminum carefully cut for the bezel, a broken Impala tail lamp for the Red portions with a mold made from a Girl scout cookie box poured with plastic resin for the base. I got a couple hours in it :o Lorne

you did a great job on it. I bet you could have a nice side job there making personalized emblems. Maybe with initials, stuff like that.

The bumpers on the K5s will fit on the pickups, they are the same.  If yours came without a bumper and was equipped with a step bumper the brackets won't work with the factory bumper though.  And the K5 will only have the outer bumper brackets that you need.

This is what is needed for putting a factory bumper on a pickup (same as suburban or Blazer)

Chris, What he was asking was if the REAR Blazer bumper was able to be used (same as) on the FRONT of his pickup. Lorne

Ah, missed that.  The rear definitely can't be used on the front or any model.

Looking at Lorne's pictures it doesn't look the same? The blazer I saw had a chrome bumper and I was wondering if it would bolt on the front of my truck
