Title: what is this? (above gas tank on vapor line)
Post by: Low87 on January 21, 2013, 03:11:02 pm
I've got the gas tank out for some trouble shooting and maintenance.  I'd like to replace the plastic piece circled while it's accessable.  I also need to replace the vapor line just forward of the fitting (hose between plastic piece and steel line).  Is that a certain part, or just curved hose?

I can't find the plastic piece in any catalog or diagram.

I am not positive, but it looks like a check valve/anti-siphon valve.  Is the hose flexible, or rigid ?  If it is rigid it probably is per-bent and formed.

It's regular rubber hose on each end of it.  I'm pretty sure I figure this out going through each frikkin category on rockauto.  It's a vapor canister purge valve.  Little thing is $30 too.  Oh well, no better time than now to replace it.  If I don't, sure enough it will quit doing whatever it do right after I bolt everything back up.

Yeah, I think GM calls it a vapor control valve. The bent vent line is a 5/16" piece of hose.

Thanks Don.  I couldn't find the bent hose as a part, so just grabbed some hose at the parts store.
