Title: Wont start after hei distributor rebulid
Post by: Terry Southend on January 22, 2013, 01:27:38 am
On my 1978 Chevy blazer K5, After hearing a ticking noise my engine stalled. I had no spark so I replaced the distributor Cap and coil, rotor, vacuum unit, amplifier and pickup. Also new leads and plugs. The engine got moved while the dizy was out so I got Piston 1 to top with the valves on the rock, pointed the rotor to piston 1. But all i get is firing through the carb or exhaust. I have double checked TDC, firing order leads. just cant work it out. engine run fine before this.

Are you getting 12v at the plug? Did you replace the modulator under the cap? If you did, did you put the "grease" under it?

Reset your distributor 180°, and try again.

I think this situation is typically called "Ye old distributor timing is off by 180 Degrees"

I'm just saying...
