Updates? You're doing the swap I've wanted to for years! Would love to do a high-compression 472 or a 500. What mounts and headers did you use?

I see you are a fellow Canuck. Lower Mainland of BC here :)

Sorry Folks, done alot more to the truck, motors in and running, fuel system plumbed, installed electric fans from a caravan, made up a driveshaft loop, custom length driveshaft installed, spool installed, 3.42 gears, put the old rusty box on, megashifters working great, rebuilt the quadrajet, too much to list, it sure doesnt look good, but man from idle up there is nothing but torque, cant keep this truck from spinning,

sux2bu99 the mounts are 68-72 rear wheel drive single stud mount, attached to the frame by a 3/8 plate welded to the original mount pad and braced by flat bar to the inside frame rail, its more then strong enough, as of right now I am currently using the original manifolds, but you can purchase header flanges from Maximum Torque Specialties In California, great service!

Open to any input or thoughts of how to improve 1/4 mile times with the truck style

Thanks, Brennan

Have you tried the 1/4 mile yet, or tried to clock yourself to see what your time might be ?

Truck went to the track but what a day.. Punctured a slick while putting it on the trailer, truck was running 15.1 with 2.8 60foots and odd pressure snow tires, quick change to timing and air pressure, truck ran a 14.6 with a 2.4 60ft the stock q jet wasn't keeping up and the truck was starving for fuel on the top end and off the line, too much wheel spin, then on the 12th pass I was 2 lengths on a 71 challenger and it broke 2 rods, the next day the motor was out and stripped but hey that's racing it's all part of the game  next ones gonna be a 500 with a newer block and forged rod piston combo

I know that game too well. We play it on Saturday nights on the short track. Different rules but same game. Luckily we have been 2 years without having to bring the car home in a heap.

Bummer about the broken motor. How high do you take it before shifting? Times are getting there nicely; where is your track located?

5200 rpm but I should of been shifting earlier, more torque at around 4800, was all wheel spin and it was starving for gas with the quadrajet right off the line, could of been an easy 13.4 motor

most are of heads,

I myself ported these heads , intake roofs are raised .125 to help the attack angle from the intake match.

Degreeing the cam

Rod side clearance was tight and had to touch em up with a light file and some emery cloth.

Decided im going to race this year, started working on the truck.

Putting a coan brake in my TH400. Got some billet wheels with 295 radials, figured im gonna need beefier rear with the car pattern.

the motor bent a crossmember in the rear while racing with no bumper on it, too much twisting, added in some DOM tubing. much stronger.

Took a housing out of a van, extra wide 68".. cut it for optimum wheel placement at 64 1/2, only cut a piece out the driverside in order to help center the pinion.

Update on the truck.

After a couple life changes the truck went back into hiding. I rebuild the transmission and finished everything off over the last couple months.

The motor is back in the truck along with the rebuilt th400. The 9 inch is all buttoned up.
Made clearance for the new headers.

Next up: Going to use camaro rotors and obtain a 4 3/4 bolt pattern to fit some nice wheels, while installing all new bushings and ball joints to keep the MTO happy.
