Title: Rebuilding my Grandpa's truck
Post by: 83LWB convert on February 03, 2013, 03:18:24 pm
I have a 83 Custom Deluxe that was passed down to me from my grandpa.  Not long ago I slid into the back of someone and damaged the passenger side fender, grill, bumper, and headlight bezel.  I was able to pick up the entire front clip off a Suburban and started tearing apart the front end.  The truck was originally driven in Wisconsin so it has rust everywhere.  About 10 years ago I did a quick paint job on it but at this point the rockers and cab corners need to be redone on both sides.  It will be a slow process but I plan on pulling the cab off and fixing all the rust, then replacing both front fenders.  I'll take pictures and update as I go.

This is the front end I purchased, and the tear down.

Now the core support is in and everything is back together except for the inner fenders which were almost completely rusted out so I'm replacing them.

Looks like the front went together pretty well.
