Post by: pholliday1 on February 03, 2013, 09:25:50 pm
Have a chance to buy stock 1987 one ton 4x4, But wow this thing is a complete rust/rot bucket .Frame section behind cab is severely rusted.Box is rotted cab roof is dented about the only good metal on this truck is the glove box.Poor truck not really even one good option on it either. No dual tanks,no AC ,custom deluxe. The good news is the price is around 1000 bucks. What do I do? Kinda think its just a parts rig .

Can always swap the running gear into another frame, then build up the sheet metal as you go.

Yea really needs donor frame. Engine has 117k so most of its best days are behind it. I agree the engine and axles are where the value is. To bad its so rusted not a ton of those trucks still out there

I would say if you need any of the running gear, or you want to build a truck like that than it would be worth it.  Otherwise you are only buying it to sit around or sell off what you can and junk the rest.
