looks like a 44 to me looking at the lower right bolts holding the cover on.
-
Paid $850 for the truck. Cab and fenders sandblasted and painted frame as well and all new paint and bushings on the running gear that is there. Guess I did ok if it is still d44 and a 14 bolt sf?

Hard to tell from the image - it's so shiny!
Here's a good ID chart. If I had to guess I'd say its a 60:

Can't post a link. Try this:

I think it looks closer to a 44 :/
-
It's a 44 ,make sure you ditch those front lift blocks
-
It's a 44. The 60 doesn't have a u-bolt on the inboard side of the differential. Instead it uses 2) 5/8" coarse thread bolts to hold the leaf spring to the axle
-
44, and ditch the front blocks. If he is that much of a hack to use them you might question his other work as well.
-
OUCH...... I was thinking the same Blazin thing just did'nt say it. LOL

The guy I'm buying from I know pretty well. He bought it about 9 months ago with plans to finish it but hasn't done anything with it. My main question is it worth $850? Cab, doors and fenders have been sand blasted and almost all dents fixed. Same with the frame. I currently have 37"s on my truck with 1/2 ton stuff and just play in the mud with it. Would it be worth buying for the parts? I have another 4x4 swb frame at the house I was wanting to put a cab on and fix up, if y'all were in my spot would you buy it or pass on it?

Its a buy all day long

Sounds like its probably worth it. Keep in mind though that a Dana 44 is a Dana 44 wether its got 6 or 8 lugs, same axle in 1/2 or 3/4 ton. As far as the rear axle, if its a full floater then its an upgrade. If its a semi floater its just an over grown 1/2 ton rear axle. Yes its stronger, but not by such a large margin that its worth the swap.
-
Looks like by the pinion snout its a fullfloater, pictures is a little blury back by the rear diff

Looks like a 3/4T setup, D44 and 14B. Is it 8 lug?
