Title: Chevy 10 Bolt Axle Question

Can anyone confirm my 84 chevy truck 2X2 with 10 Bolt/ 8.5 ring gear has 28 spline axles? I dont want to pull apart, no id tag and looking to buy a posi unit. It is my understanding that 88 and up 10 bolts switched to 8.6 and have 30 spline correct? Any insight appreciated..

Call Randy's ring and pinion, order a lock right locker while your at it.

Yes..88 and up are 30 spline..A 30 spline carrier from an 88 and up will fit in your 10 bolt but you would need 30 spline axles also..
