This is probably a re-post from somewhere along the line, but I have a question about the gas tank on my truck. I have a 1986 Chevy K10 4X4 shortbed. I have had these trucks in the past and I do not trust the dual fuel tank set-up. My question is, is there a proficient way to go to a single larger tank? Curreently the truck has a tired 305 in it, but sitting next to the truck on the stand is an LSX motor being built to go in. Currently the gas mileage isn't too terrible but I rely on a single 16 gallon tank, because the guy I bought the truck from only used the one side and never swapped tanks so I don' trust the other tank and don't know if the switch even works, and that just doesn't go but so far. Any suggestions?

put two manual valves in mine. But if your putting the money into it with an lsx then you probably wouldn't want to crawl under the truck to switch tanks.

I'm a fan of doing the work, research where need be, get the dual setup reliable and take advantage of the OEM setup, but........... thats just me.

The other option is a blazer tank in the back like capt. did on his. http://forum.73-87chevytrucks.com/smforum/index.php/topic,12120.45.html

There isn't anything wrong with 2 tanks other than having one go back and you never fix it. If you want a single larger one, put a Blazer tank in it like I did. This is my other page on how to do it. http://www.captkaoscustoms.com/blazertank.html
I just help someone fix theirs, it was the switch in the dash that was bad. If the tank hasn't been used I would clean it out.
