I am trying to find out if I can bypass the ecm and its contro over the lock up. If I'm not mistaken other than the other things like vac press switch doesn't the ecm just control the ground and when the temp reaches 140 and the moon and stars are properly aligned the convertor will lock up? If this is true then is it possible to track down that ground wire via a pinout chart and use that in conjunction with a manual switch to turn lockup on and off but still keep the vac switch and brake switches working properly?
I know that I can make my own wiring but I really don't want to even though I have everything to do it here at the house. I really want to just by pass some of the annoying parts of the factory system.

There should be a wire (I think mine was purple) that goes to the brake switch. When you press the brake it disengages lockup. If you put a toggle on that wire you can keep the converter from locking up when the switch is off. Turn the switch on and the converter will behave normally.

Thanks Rich, I understand where you are going with that but it's not exactly what im after. I want to basically remove the temp setting so I can turn the lockup on even before it gets to 140*

The ECM sends the ground when that all the settings are in place, why do you want to do lockup when it is that cold?

It's not so much that I want it to lock up when it's not @ the 140* mark but rather because I'd like to have better control over it with out having set up my own wiring, relays, vacuum switches..etc, but rather use whats there in a more efficient way and beable to lock it up when I think it should like when I get to a cruise speed. Most of the time I drive on the interstate I only get lock up at weird times like when going up a hill I will feel it kick in then it will knick out and not come back in until I meet some perfect balance of speed and throttle. This has been an on going annoyance for as long as I have driven this truck.
