Title: NP205 transfer case front yoke
Post by: pedigo78 on February 21, 2013, 09:39:27 pm
ok so i was doing some research about np205 trying to see if a spline seal goings on the front yoke as well as the rear. From what i have been reading and the diagrams the rubber spline seal only goes on the rear yoke not the front. So does a spline seal go on the front too?

I don't know of a seal for the front. The rear is a 32 spline. Your front will either be a 10 spline (yoke), or a 30 spline (companion flange).

yeah this weekend i am going to pull the shaft down and put a output seal on it, so hopefully that will take care of it

well i have a 10 spline front shaft. pulled the driveshaft off and the yoke. going to replace the seal. its either that seal or the two slide rod seals. and i am pretty sure i have to pull apart the whole case to replace those.

It is rare that the shift shaft seals leak. But if they do you can replace them in the truck. It is a pain but it can be done.

Got the front output shaft seal replaced. No more leaking thank God. I left the front drive shaft off while i went for a drive to ensure it was good after a drive.
