I have a filter on my right valve cover that goes into the oil fill hole. Why is this like this? I also have a vent hose that goes to the left valve cover from the carb, why is that like that?
In addition, I have a couple of small puddles of oil on the intake manifold under the carb on the right side. I looked at this small filter and I don't see anywhere that it might be leaking out and I don't know why oil would gather there. Is this an area of concern?
Thanks!

The filter is a breather filter, the tube that runs from carb to valve cover is where the PVC Valves goes. Both normal.
Did you check around the oil to see if it is coming from the valve cover ? The valve covers might need to be tightened a bit.

Ok, thank you. I'm checking valve covers now.

The oil accumulating on the right side of the intake manifold is either seeping past the valve cover gasket and/or oozing up around the center manifold bolts from the valley area underneath the intake manifold. Either situation is easy to resolve.

Thanks guys. Getting dark, I'm getting old and I am having a hard time seeing so I think this is going to get addressed in the morning.

Oil could be from Intake gasket as well... had that problem with mine
