On my 81 Stepside, I am looking to replace the suspension all the way around the truck to give it a better overall ride and look. I think that it needs to be dropped a couple of inches(2 or 3), nothing major, but I basically have NO idea where to start.
I know NOTHING about suspension and all of the "How to" guides I can find are about lift kits and drop kits. I just need to know what parts I need to start looking for to replace.
i.e.
Shocks
Springs
Bushings
Control Arms
etc...
I have seen "kits" to do everything from the brakes on up, but the some of the kits are in the $1800 range. I barely paid that for the entire truck. Not looking to invest a mint. Just want it to have a smoother ride. Thanks guys, I have no idea you'll help.

If you are looking for ride quality, do you like how it rides now? If so get spindles in front and shackle hanger in the rear. 3/4 or 3/5 kit.

I would like for it to ride, handle, and brake a little smoother, but I realize that beggers can't be choosers :-) Thanks Cap'n!
