Title: Suspension Problem or something else???
Post by: Low82C10 on February 28, 2013, 12:47:04 pm
i have a 82 c10 shortbed, it has never had this problem till after i towed it on a flat bed trailer. i loaded it on a flat bed and it was center of the trailer, when i arrived to the shop, the truck was all the way to the front of the trailer which it moved two feet foward. i didnt really think any thing of it, yesterday i test drove it after the exhaust shop finished up my exhaust and i makes like a clunking noise when i turn left. what should i check out? it drives fine everything else seems ok but just when i turn left it clunks and it goes away a few seconds after driving straight.

Why was it being towed?  Did something happen?  Have you inspected the front?

do you have to be going fast for it to happen, if not have someone stand beside the truck and see if they can pinpoint where it is coming from.
Otherwise check all your suspension components.

How was it hooked up to the trailer ?  Chains or straps.  I would start looking where the tie down points were. ( did you use the front axle or something else in front to secure to trailer ? )

Very good point. something may have been accidently bent because it wasn't as strong as whoever strapped it down thought. This would explain the movement on the trailer as well.

I have towed a lot of things in my life, and have seen the results of not connecting to the proper tie down points.  Things can get messed up really quick if not properly secured.
