Title: Steering Box Input Shaft Spline Count
Post by: OmegaJ1 on March 14, 2013, 05:02:40 pm
Hello all,
I have a 77 C10 stepside, power steering, with a 350 SBC.  I'm trying to replace the rag joint with a u-joint but I don't have any calipers to measure the input shaft on the steering box and theres not a lot of room for error when measuring this (3/4" vs 13/16").  My question is, what  is the spline count on the input shaft of the steering box?  The numbers on top of the box are 7802644.  I tried counting the splines and I counted 26, but I haven't heard that these trucks/steering boxes have a 26 spline input shaft.  All my net searches show either a 3/4"-30 or 13/16"-36...any help would be greatly appreciated.

you mean a borgensen joint?  There should be a post here on that..  If you call them they can tell you the specs also.
