Title: 14bsf to 14bff swap?
Post by: csdineley on March 25, 2013, 11:16:46 am
Hello

I wondering how hard would it be to swap a 14bff into my truck with a 14bsf?

If it is an early model regular cab it will bolt right in.  What is the donor?

1986 GMC 1-ton srw. Everything looks like it would bolt up but the shock mounts.

It will bolt in. Shock mounts might need to be modified, or swapped from the semi floater. U joint might have to have a combonation joint.

That's a huge upgrade you'll be glad you did.

NO!

If the 14-bolt FF is out of a 1-ton the spring seats are narrower than your 3/4-ton. You need to find a 14-bolt FF from a 3/4-ton, or be prepared to cut and reweld the new axle's spring seats.
